Who do you think is more intelligent, the clowns in Congress of the cast of Jersey Shore?
Well at least the morons on Jersey Shore are relatively harmless.

Are they relatively harmless? Or do they represent a much larger cross-section of society? The "types" portrayed on shows of this nature are based on "reality," even if the actual show episodes are scripted. If the population contains a substantial portion of self-absorbed narcissists (I don't believe that this phrase is redundant), who are, everyday, making a zillion small decisions in a zillion social interactions, isn't that scarier than the narcissists club in Congress?
